Privacy and security
Dear Friends,
We consider the information you choose to share with us personal and
confidential. We will not sell any of your information without your
express consent. We collect information to better understand health
concerns, customer interests and other health market research related
topics. If used, any information gathered from our site will be used in
an aggregate and anonymous fashion.
Guaranteed Secure Transactions
Our site employs the latest version of Secure Socket Layer Technology
(SSL) to encrypt your information and help make sure that only you and
Uncle Harry's ever see it. Some Web browsers and some firewalls will
not permit a secure connection. If your Web browser will not permit a
secure connection, you can use a standard server connection to complete
your transaction, but this method is not guaranteed to be secure.
To check that your browser is in secure mode or supports it, load
this
same page from our secure server and check that a "lock" or a "key"
icon is displayed in the lower left or right-hand corner of your
browser window. You can also check by looking at the URL bar on top of
your browser. This line will typically show the first characters as
"https" when a secure connection has been established rather than
"http" which indicates a connection that is not secured. Many browsers
also give a notice when entering a secure site.
Our normal server is Apache, running on UNIX. Apache has been the most
popular web server on the Internet since April of 1996. The May 1999
WWW server site survey by Netcraft found that over 57% of the web sites
on the Internet are using Apache (over 60% if Apache derivatives are
included), thus making it more widely used than all other web servers
combined.
Our secure server is Stronghold, an SSL Web server for UNIX which
allows a full-strength, 128-bit encryption. Stronghold is approved by
both Verisign and Thawte. The 1998 secure server survey from Netcraft
found that Stronghold was the number one full-strength SSL web server
commercially available world-wide, securing over 60,000 sites.
Uncle Harry's supports both the VeriSign and Thawte secure
certificates.
