Thousand of years ago, native Polynesians discovered the oil of tamanu as a wonderful skin-care aid, skin protector, and cosmetic.
They learned how to extract this oil from the tamanu nut, which they obtained by drying kernels of the fruit of the “ati” tree. The Tahitians and other Polynesians alike used this oil in their daily skin care regimen, to protect their skin from hot sun, high humidity, and the sea winds laden with salt.
Tamanu oil became very popular with the people. It is now so highly regarded that the natives believe tamanu oil is a “sacred” gift of nature. The natives protect the trees, carefully harvest and dry the nuts, and extract the tamanu oil. It has become a beauty secret of Polynesian women who are noted for their wonderful complexions.
The surprising natural properties of this oil taken from the Calophyllum Inophyllum, has attracted the attention of botanists, researchers and doctors.
In 1938 Doctor Jenson, a reputable Parisian biologist, began experimenting with Tamanu oil. He was impressed by its numerous therapeutic properties, and especially its wound healing virtues. It was Professor Lederer who, in 1953, succeeded in isolating two essential chemical components of the oil of Calophyllum Inophyllum (Oil of Tamanu). He found a totally new fatty acid, Calophyllic acid, and a lactone endowed with antibiotic properties to be at the origin of its amazing healing power.
Oil of Tamanu is especially recommended for all kinds of burns (from sunburn to chemical burns), most inflammations of the skin, post-surgical cicatrization, certain skin allergies, acne, psoriasis, herpes, chilblains, skin cracks, diabetic sores, hemorrhoids, dry skin, insomnia, hair loss, etc. Oil of tamanu possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. Applied to wounds or burns of diverse origins, this natural product gives results that surpass all hopes, as much as for the quality of the cicatrization as that of its rapidity. In cosmetology, it is used in the preparation of regenerative creams.
Tamanu Oil is to be used topically only. It is not for internal use and should be used only for the skin. People with allergies to nuts of any kind should not use Tamanu Oil.

Dear Uncle Harry, With this letter I wish to thank you for your Tamanu Oil. I would have found it difficult to believe its power to heal if I had not experienced that seeming miracle myself. On December 5, 2000, early in the morning, my wife and daughter still asleep, I had boiled water for a pot of tea, and when bringing the kettle from the stove to the counter to fill the pot, my hand somehow slipped on the handle of the kettle, which hit the edge of the counter, causing the kettle top to fly off, and the freshly boiled water to amply bathe the top of my left hand. I dropped the kettle on the counter and, somewhat traumatized, ran to the bathroom to put my hand under cold running water. After a period of extremely painful activity, I got ice out of the fridge, put it into a towel, and kept it on my hand for at least a couple of hours. My whole hand was scarlet in color and extremely painful. At some point, I tried putting my whole hand into a pitcher of ice water. That was bearable for only short periods of time. The pain was excruciating. Throughout the day, I kept ice on the hand whenever possible. When not possible, I applied generous amounts of a combination of witch hazel and aloe vera. That salve proved momentarily cooling following the pain of application, but did little to relieve my discomfort. I also tried tea tree oil in a salve. It also was only momentarily effective in soothing my physical and psychological dismay: my best hand had been severely scalded, to the third degree. Would it ever heal? Until the 14th, I had repeated the above treatments with consistent fervor; I had not covered the hand, even at bedtime; and I had taken no pain medication, only 1000mg of Vitamin C every four hours. Still my hand was painful, red, and showed no visible indication of improvement. I was worried. Finally, I took the time to go to my local natural products store for a different opinion and I could only hope, a remedy. I shouldn’t have waited so long. I showed my still very sorry looking hand to an attendant and told her what had happened to it and when. Without hesitation, she led me to your Tamanu Oil. She said that it was especially good for burns. She read me your accompanying information, and gave me a copy to take home. I opened a bottle and smelled it. It was the most comforting fragrance I had smelled in a long time. It smelled of healing, of earth, of musk, of the oil of a bark I had known in Africa. It comforted me instantly. I purchased it and walked home feeling better. From the moment I applied the Tamanu Oil to my injured hand, I could feel it penetrating into the wound. It had a long way to go, a lot of work to do. I had waited too long. It is difficult to tell this story without making it sound exaggerated. Never was there a moment when I was not aware of the healing of my hand. First, the pain began to diminish. Then it was gone. A constant, often excruciating pain of ten days was finally, surprisingly it seemed gone. By early the week of the 18th, my whole hand had begun to itch. Then the entire top of my hand and the tops of the first joints of all four fingers and my thumb prepared to shed its damaged skin. I had continued to use the Tamanu Oil throughout the entire process. The first molting was quick, then to my surprise, another layer prepared for peeling. Over the course of several days, except for a lingering light pinkness, most of my hand began to look almost normal. A patch about three fingers wide and long across the top of my hand, with the very worst of it between the forefinger and thumb, continued to scab and peel, scab and peel, almost daily, getting smaller and smaller. I did not cease to apply the Tamanu Oil during the course of this progress. By the 28th of December, I gazed upon a hand apparently wholly recovered. There was no lingering redness, no scarring. Now, as I type this letter, I still glimpse my hand in wonder. At the age of nearly 50, I fear very little any longer. I did fear greatly for my hand, however. I am left-handed, even ambi-sinistrous (with two left hands). I had thought that I might be disfigured for the rest of my life. To write here that I am grateful to you for granting me a cure in Tamanu Oil is vastly understated. Something favorable in my karma enable me to experience through Uncle Harry’s a true miracle. My faith in nature’s ability to heal has been enhanced anew. Thank you for your generous service on Her behalf. I will continue to use your products devotedly. Cheers! MO Morgan-Jones |
