Uncle Harry’s Ocean Nutrients Solution
Ocean Nutrients Solution for soil or hydroponic growing
Certified by Organic Crop Improvement Association International, Inc. as suitable for growing Organic plants
There is a miracle in ocean water. It has a balance of nutrients essential for sustaining life. There is a striking similarity between the analysis of elements in human blood and in pure sea water. Both the seawater and human blood contain a substantial amount of sodium chloride that is in proper balance with trace elements, which renders the mix beneficial to human and plant sustenance.
Since the advent of industrial agriculture there has been a continual erosion of the topsoil. This is due to incomplete understanding of soil maintenance by profit driven farmers and their fertilizer suppliers. By ignoring the complex chemistry of soil management, farmers, on the advice of industry-financed soil scientists, add nitrogen-phosphorous-potassium (NPK) fertilizer to their topsoil for increased yields. (At best, farmers enhance the NPK fertilizer with three to ten more vital nutrients.) This gradually depletes the topsoil of essentially vital trace elements and leads to production of grains and vegetables that contain less than half the naturally occurring vital nutrients. Continually eating such sub-standard food, although great in bulk but low in life sustaining vitality, is a contributing factor to poor health. The question is how to replenish the topsoil for production of healthy, full spectrum nutritional plants that will supply all the vital nutrients for healthy human sustenance?
There is a secret in "activated seawater" that can solve the nutritional problems of humanity. A cubic foot of seawater sustains many more living organisms than its equivalent of soil. In fact, more than ninety of the Atomic Table Elements (with the exception the gases) are mysteriously present in a solution of consistent balance and proportion in seawater. When seawater is used in proper proportion and activated by an aerobic technology it becomes the ideal nutrient for soil and production of healthy, nutritious plants. Salt by itself will destroy soil and plants, but activated seawater will miraculously vitalize soil and plants with all the vital nutrients to sustain healthy life.
The increase of disease can be reversed and the deterioration of old age slowed down by a complete and balanced nutritional diet. Disease and old age are caused by nutritional deficiency. Most cells in the body are replaced every eighteen months (to seven years). If vital elements are not supplied by our diet when cell division occurs, there is gradual erosion until essential nutrients are not present in the cells. This is the main cause of disease and old age. As a young boy, I witnessed the demise of my father who was a chain smoker (four packs of Chesterfields a day) and a coffee freak. He drank six to twelve cups a day with sugar and cream. When he was forty six, all his teeth were removed because they were rotten. His diet was very poor. He ate a lot of meat and little vegetables and whole grains. He was prematurely old at fifty and died of cancer when he was fifty six years old. My father's diet lacked the vital nutrients necessary to maintain a healthy, long life.
Pure seawater contains 90+ elements in an inorganic crystalloid solution that is ideal for absorption by plant roots. All these elements are used by plants to protect themselves from disease. The plants absorb the inorganic elements and turn them into organic compounds (by the addition of a carbon atom) that can be utilized by animals and humans. Organic compounds are assimilated by the human body for health and vitality. Inorganic compounds are not readily assimilated. Eating salt, even the best sea salt which contains so many trace minerals, is not adequate or good for our health because our body is not able to assimilate sufficiently the inorganic nutrients and trace elements contained in it. Using ocean nutrients to nourish plants is the ideal way to have available all the vital organic nutrients for human consumption. There is a subtle balance of elements required in the soil for plants to synthesize their complete chemistry. Modern fertilizers try to supply a large amount of one particular combination of elements. However, the presence or absence of a trace element can be the deciding factor in determining whether a necessary element is absorbed into the plant's root system. An adequate balance of elements as found in pure seawater ocean nutrients is the optimum nutrient supply for growing outstanding crops. This is the most cost effective way for growing healthy food.
Misinformation is being spread today that the "long-term solution to the food crisis is development of new, productive crop hybrids and the spread of modern agricultural technology throughout the developing world." What is required in truth is proper management of soil and growing mediums so that the crop production is genuinely nutritious. Such nutritious food has the added benefit of protecting humans and animals from disease and premature aging.
It is a fact that animals feeding off the land are in general less healthy than creatures living in the ocean. This is due to the erosion of land nutrients by artificial and natural causes. The increase in population and pollution along with the loss of agricultural land and deforestation has accelerated the leaching out of vital nutrients from soil by snow and rain and diminished the nutritional quality of plants. These vital nutrients eventually are washed into the oceans by streams and rivers. The mineral fertility on land is washed into the oceans. Thus plants growing in ocean water have a complete spectrum of nutrients available and sea creatures feeding on them remain healthier. Sea creatures are generally free of cancer, hardening of arteries, and arthritis. Disease resistance in sea plants and animals is many times better than their counterparts living on land. Sea creatures also resist aging symptoms much better than land creatures. One major reason for this is enhanced nutritional value of sea vegetation. For example, freshwater trout develop terminal cancer of the liver at the average age of 5 ½ years. Seawater trout almost never contract cancer. Almost all land animals develop arteriosclerosis, yet sea creatures never do.
Sea mammals such as whales, seals, and porpoises have a more vigorous health and longevity than similar mammal land species. All these positive symptoms of sea creatures appear attributable to the superior food chain of the sea.
Although there are a great variety of foods to eat, humans still suffer degenerative diseases and are subject to premature aging and its lack of vitality earlier than expected. The normal life-span should be one hundred years of active, healthy life. There are, however, so many doctors, hospitals, drug and supplement companies, and soaring medical expenses in the USA which indicate our poor state of health. A simple solution would be to supply people with the necessary nutrients for maximum health. These nutrients need to be in an organic state such as sugars, amino acids, fats, and oils. We cannot assimilate readily elements such as minerals, iron, calcium, potassium, etc. unless they are hooked to carbon. Plants convert inorganic elements to organic compounds that can be assimilated by humans.
Ocean water appears to have a perfect balance of essential elements numbering over ninety essential trace minerals. Humans are not able to drink seawater or ingest sea salt without incurring adverse effects. The common table salt is very detrimental to health because it is depleted of all its trace minerals. It is almost completely sodium chloride. Four or more teaspoons of such table salt ingested at one time is lethal to humans. However, sea water is an ideal blend of sodium and chlorine with ninety more trace elements that buffer its toxicity. In fact, in proper dilution sodium helps in the assimilation of other minerals. Sea water is a miraculous solution of trace minerals that acts synergistically to rejuvenate life when properly used.
Farmers are wary of salt. They insist that salt will kill plants like a pesticide or poison. This is true in the case of table salt, which is inorganic. For example, a celery stalk has as much sodium chloride as we might add to normal portions of cooked food. Celery is not excluded from salt free diets because salt in organic form is not toxic. It is only inorganic salt that is toxic in excess. Pure seawater, however, is a perfectly balanced blend that will promote healthy growth of plants when properly diluted and enhanced with an aerobic microbial culture. The trace elements in such a medium become available for the plants to absorb them and make them bio-available for human consumption. There is still a mystery surrounding the necessity of consuming trace elements, some of which are poisonous when taken in excess, yet essential in very small amounts for maintaining optimum health. Modern agriculture ignores these mysteries and concentrates on the NPK fertilizers enhanced perhaps with six or more minerals. Therefore, people consume more and more beautiful looking vegetables, fruits and other foods, but are not getting all the vital nutrients for maintaining good health.
Dr. Linus Pauling, winner of two Nobel prizes, said, "You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency." Minerals are the basis of all nutrition. There are over 92 minerals that can play a positive role in nutrition. At least 10 of these are major minerals (calcium, iron, magnesium, etc.) and the rest are trace minerals (zinc, selenium, manganese, etc.). Organic plant food, rather than supplements, should be the ideal means for human consumption of these minerals and vital nutrients.
Plants vary in their ability to absorb nutrients from the soil and render them organic. Of all the plants, wheat grass and other cereals are known as "superfoods" because of their relatively high concentration of vitamins, minerals and amino acids; abundance of chlorophyll and powerful enzymes; and ability to transfer nutrients into the blood stream. Various studies indicate that 8 ounces of wheat grass juice is enough to meet our daily nutritional requirements. Wheat grass has the unique property of balancing the body's PH. Many creatures and especially the large mammals feed directly on grasses, of which wheat grass is most convenient for human consumption. Wheatgrass fed with Uncle Harry's Ocean Nutrient will absorb all 90 plus minerals naturally occurring in the solution. It becomes a miraculous life promoting drink that literally sends an electrical charge through every cell in the body. Disease cannot stand a chance against this organic power drink. Soil minerals control the quality of the wheatgrass. Most wheatgrass grown on normal soil may contain less than 35 minerals. Uncle Harry's Ocean Nutrients will energize your growing medium whether soil or water with 90 plus minerals so that your wheat grass will be empowered with the living power of disease resistance, energy, and appetite control. When you consume truly nutritious food, your craving for food naturally diminishes as your body has received all the vital minerals it needs to function. When eating junk food, our body never gets its requirement of minerals. This is the major cause of overeating and insatiable appetite.
How to grow high potency wheat grass and other nutritious "grasses" at home for maximum health and energy is made easy by Uncle Harry's "Organic Kitchen Farming System." All you need to start is the Uncle Harry's Easy Sprouter (product number 64005, only $10.00), Uncle Harry's Ocean Nutrient Solution ($16.00), and Uncle Harry's organic sprouting seeds (all inexpensive). Ocean Nutrient Solution for Indoor plants
When growing indoor plants it is important to feed them a balanced proportion of vital nutrients. Ocean Nutrient Solution is a complete balanced source of over eighty trace minerals that your plants can selectively absorb for their maximum benefit.
It is the general practice to use fertilizers based on three major elements: nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK). This is a gross simplification that ignores the dynamic synergy and balance inherent in nature's chemistry when all the trace micronutrients are present. By overdosing their land with a few minerals, farmers deplete the vitality of their soil and gradually poison their land and the water table. More recently, progressive growers recognize the importance of micronutrients. They use up to sixteen elements in their plant nutrient applications.
Pure unadulterated ocean water contains eighty plus stable elements (and more unstable ones) in an inorganic crystalloid solution ready to be absorbed by a plant's roots. Science has yet to prove essential (to good health) all the elements of the periodic table. Gradually sophisticated chemical analysis is discovering the direct and indirect benefits of trace minerals one by one. It is only a matter of time before all the elements will be considered essential or at least beneficial by plant physiologists.
Dr. Maynard Murray, a researcher and visionary of sustainable agriculture made the following analogy in his book, Sea Energy Agriculture:
"If a soil is like a mine with its myriad of elements, then whenever man tills it, plants crops and in other ways engages in farming, he is for all practical purposes engaged in the business of mining. Like a miner, the farmer breaks the earth with digging tools, but instead of dynamite, he plants seeds to loosen the minerals and elements from their holding matrix. And finally, he carts away his minerals in the form of food rather than ore."
Farmers, through conventional fertilizer strategies, often only replace three to six of the total number of elements removed from the soil. This is the tragedy of modern agriculture and agro-industry. The failure to understand the importance of all elements and their role in providing complete, balanced nutrition to plants and animals has resulted in an abundance of food that is great in bulk but low in vitality. Ocean Nutrient Solution is a perfect balance of nutrients for sustaining healthy plants. As plants consume minute amounts of nutrients, it is important to not overdose. When plants do not seem to be doing well, it is due to a lack (or overdose)of minerals in proper proportion. They can be either undernourished with vital minerals, overdosed on certain nutrients but lacking a subtle balance of other micronutrients, or not properly watered (either too much or too little). The more we supply the proper minerals in the ideal proportions the better the plants thrive. A quick index for judging the condition of your plants is the following: yellow leaves indicate over-watering, curled leaves indicate a lack of minerals. Sometimes it is possible to bring back to life seemingly dead plants by feeding them Ocean Nutrient Solution with food grade hydrogen peroxide (to kill molds and other bacterial infestations in the soil roots).
Ocean Nutrient Solution used judiciously is the ideal plant nutrient because it contains over eighty trace minerals in a perfect balance along with live aerobic bacteria that will protect your soil from unhealthy pathogens. When plants are properly nourished they naturally resist pests and pathogens. A researcher in Florida studied plant pests and concluded that an insect's antennas can detect when a plant is lacking nutrients. They sense that the plant is not able to sustain itself so they attack such plants. Carefully feeding your plants Ocean Nutrient Solution will give them the opportunity to absorb vital minerals from a full spectrum of over 80 trace elements. Your plants will remain vibrant, disease and insect resistant without need of any other fertilizer or pesticide. (If pests still persist on attacking your plants for whatever reason, then you can use Uncle Harry's Hinoki oil (25 drops to a quart of water and spray the plants vigorously and the pests will stay away).
How to apply Ocean Nutrient Solution correctly to indoor plants? This is crucial for maximum results. As Ocean Nutrient Solution is a concentrated seawater, if you do not dilute it properly and feed your plants at appropriate intervals, you can overdose them. Seawater contains a lot of sodium, therefore it cannot be used without the proper dilution. There are two ways to approach the method of dilution: one is scientific and the other user friendly. I will explain the user friendly method and explain the scientific method in a footnote.
Every plant has a different need for micronutrients. Orchids need much less micronutrients than potatoes. You can destroy orchids if you use the same dilution as needed by potatoes. Two major factors need to be considered: the mineral content of your water source - the mineral content of well water can be significantly different than distilled water; the mineral content of your soil - sandy soil is different than soil containing clay. Heavier soil will retain water much longer than sandy soil. Therefore, sandy soil requires much more watering than clay soil.
(A third essential factor not related to dilution is that indoor plants need to get daily exposure to fresh air that supplies them a fresh source of carbon dioxide. They will not do well if deprived of fresh air on a daily basis. They need a minimum of fifteen minutes exposure to fresh air everyday. The ambient temperature for indoor plants is also important. They usually do well at 65 to 70 degrees. And lastly, they need a good source of light, either natural or indoor lights.)
A user friendly method for using Ocean Nutrient Solution follows (assuming you have normal potting soil, not sandy and not clay):
A chart is provided at the end of this page that indicates the ideal range of dissolved solids in the Ocean Nutrient Solution for nourishing your specific plants. For simplification we will divide the specific plants into two groups.
The first group has a requirement of 1200 parts per million of dissolved solids (or TDS) and up for ideal nourishment. For this group use Ocean Nutrient Solution in the following way: dissolve one ounce of Ocean Nutrient Solution in 100 ounces of distilled water.
The second group of plants needs less than 1200 parts per million of dissolved solids for nourishment, therefore, dissolve one ounce of Ocean Nutrient Solution in 200 ounces of distilled water.
As a general rule, use the appropriate diluted Ocean Nutrient Solution to nourish your plants once a month. Sometimes according to ambient conditions and water retention quality of your potting soil you may notice the leaves of your plant curling or wilting. This is an indication that your plant is lacking minerals. You will need to nourish them right away with the solution. If your plant does not curl or wilt, then a once a month application is a good frequency for nourishment. We suggest using distilled water to dilute the concentrated Ocean Nutrient Solution as distilled water contains hardly any dissolved minerals. Besides the general rule of once a month application of Ocean Nutrient Solution, you should water your plants with good quality water on a regular basis as needed. Over watering is indicated by yellow leaves.
An added bonus of using Ocean Nutrient Solution is that it will naturally balance the pH of your soil without using any other additive. Nature has a way of multi- tasking if you use her resources without adulteration.
(Scientific Method of using Ocean Nutrient solution: You will need to purchase a TDS Meter ( You can get one for $ 39.00 from Uncle Harry's) TDS means total dissolved solids or the total weight of all solids (minerals, salts or metals) that are dissolved in a given volume of water. This amazing instrument can precisely check the proper concentration level of Ocean Nutrient Solution for specific plant applications.
Three easy steps:
Measure the TDS of the water that you use to dilute the Ocean Nutrient Solution.
Measure the TDS of your potting soil in which your plant is growing.
Check the ideal TDS range for growing your vegetable, herb, flower or fruit on the chart we provide.
Adjust the TDS of the Ocean Nutrient Solution to fit into the TDS range of the particular plant you are growing. This is done by adding or reducing the amount of water you use to dilute the Ocean Nutrient Solution concentrate. The general dilution is 100 parts of water to one part of Ocean Nutrient Solution concentrate. According to the TDS levels of your water, soil, and the ideal TDS range for plants, you will either increase the amount of water for dilution (for plants that need lower TDS for nourishment) or decrease the amount of water for plants that need a higher TDS) For example, bromeliad flowers need a very low TDS for good growth so you will have to dilute the Ocean Nutrient solution more. Beans need a very high TDS, so you will need to dilute the Ocean Nutrient Solution less.
By using the TDS Meter and adjusting appropriately, you can precisely nourish your plants for best results)
When used wisely the Ocean Nutrient Solution will provide an inexpensive and natural organic food for your plants. When plants have a full spectrum of natural elements in a perfect proportion they have the opportunity to pick and chose what they need to maintain optimal health and resistance to pests, molds, and disease. Make your plants happy by feeding them Ocean Nutrient Solution.
